Morvillo Abramowitz is a litigation firm of approximately fifty five attorneys. For the past 35 years, Morvillo Abramowitz has helped institutional and individual clients with complex white collar matters, securities litigation and sophisticated business disputes. Our attorneys litigate cases at all levels of the federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before government agencies, regulatory organizations and other tribunals. The firm also has broad experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of corporate clients and provides litigation-avoidance advice and other confidential legal counseling, often in highly sensitive contexts.

Our firm has an active trial docket, and our principals have substantial trial experience. This ensures that our clients will receive the best possible representation at trial. Moreover, our reputation for courtroom skill is well known to our adversaries. This provides our clients with an additional advantage in settlement and other negotiations. We have had notable success in convincing the government not to indict identified grand jury targets, thereby also helping individuals and corporations avoid criminal charges altogether. Where there is an indictment, we are often able to obtain favorable pretrial dispositions. Similarly, in civil disputes, our ability and willingness to try high-stakes cases often helps us achieve advantageous settlements without trial.

In addition to our pretrial and trial experience, we have a significant appellate practice. We regularly handle civil and criminal appeals in federal and state appellate courts throughout the nation.

Morvillo Abramowitz’s reputation for excellence enables the firm to attract high-quality associates. Many of our associates come to us after serving as judicial law clerks or obtaining experience at prominent law firms. We make a point of staffing our cases, whenever possible, with one principal and one associate. This consolidates knowledge of the case and reduces fees by avoiding unnecessary duplication. Our firm's size also promotes efficiencies and maximizes the service we provide our clients. We are small enough to engage in a constant exchange of ideas and information, which permits the full breadth of the firm’s aggregate experience to be applied for the benefit of each client. At the same time, we are large enough to add lawyers at virtually any seniority level when the case warrants a larger team, or when the client so requests.

The firm’s principals lecture regularly in a variety of continuing legal education and bar association programs, are active in the legal community, and serve in numerous capacities on judicial and bar association committees. Included among our ranks are a past president of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers, the chair of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Bar Council, a vice president of the New York Women’s Bar Association, the chair of the Federal Courts Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association, a former chair of the Committee on Professional Responsibility for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the current chair of that association’s Committee on Professional Discipline. The firm’s principals contribute regularly to the New York Law Journal and other legal publications. Seven of the firm’s principals write regular columns for the New York Law Journal and many others are frequent contributors to legal publications ranging from the Business Crimes Bulletin to The Review of Securities and Commodities Regulation. Several of our principals co-authored or edited treatises in the white-collar field, and two of our principals have co-authored the definitive two-volume treatise Civil Practice in the Southern District of New York. In addition, seven of our principals are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers – one of the highest accolades that can be bestowed on a trial attorney.
